Take It and Blog | Favorite Springfield Dessert

September 3, 2010 Comments Off

Orange Leaf. Crave the Cup. Gelato Mio. Lots of fun and unique dessert places are popping up around Springfield. Which ones have you tried, and which satisfies your sweet tooth the most? You don’t have to stick to new arrivals, though. Andy’s, Culver’s… they’re all fair game for this week’s Take It and Blog post. Mouth-watering pictures encouraged!

How To Share Your Post

Take It and Blog is a feature of SGFblogs.com that invites bloggers to write posts on our assigned topic on their own blogs and share them with the rest of us here, on Facebook, or on Twitter. It’s our way of sharing links with our fellow bloggers and providing bloggers with a topic (because sometimes it’s hard to come up with a writing topic). Once you’ve published your Take It and Blog post, come back here and share the link in the widget below.

Take It and Blog | How Do You Stay Cool in Missouri Heat and Humidity?

July 23, 2010 Comments Off

It’s hot outside. When you step outside it feels like you’re swimming as you walk down the street. Some people love it. Others hate it. For this week’s Take It and Blog topic, we want to know how you’re staying cool in this Ozarks summer. Pool? Popsicles? What is your strategy for beating the heat?

Take It and Blog | Your Five Most Popular Posts

July 16, 2010 § 2 Comments

This week for Take It and Blog Friday we’re asking you to drum your five most popular blog posts and share them with the rest of us. And because we don’t get a peek at your blog’s statistics, you get to decide what your most popular blog posts are: Maybe they get statistically the most hits, maybe they get the most comments, maybe you just like them and want to share them with the rest of the Springfield blogosphere. Whatever the case, we want to read your five most popular posts. Now, it would be good form if, instead of just posting a list of titles, you gave a little description of each one or explained why these posts are so popular. We’re not psychic you know. Once you’re finished, submit the link on this page, post the link to our Facebook wall, or send it in a tweet to us. Then we can check out your popular posts at our leisure!

Facebook Security & Skankiness | Take It and Blog Friday

May 17, 2010 § 5 Comments

So there’s been some discussion on Twitter this week about Facebook and its security issues. Some of us have even touted that Facebook is more skanky than MySpace. Many of us, for one reason or another, are considering shutting down our Facebook accounts, but none of us have bit the bullet quite yet.

For this week’s Take It and Blog Friday post, tell us what side of the fence you’re sitting on. Why are (or why aren’t) you concerned about Facebook’s security? Or are you contemplating a leap from Facebook for other reasons? What are the pros for leaving? The cons? It’s a personal decision for each of us, but it’s definitely good to hear from a variety of perspectives.

How To Share Your Post

Once you’ve written your FBSS TIBF post on your blog, come back here and share the link in the widget below. We’ll try to tweet as many as we can (and ironically, we’ll try to link to them on our FB page, too).

How’d Your Meet Your Significant Other? | TIBF

February 26, 2010 § 4 Comments

It’s Friday, and we know you’re counting down the hours until you get to call it the weekend. (For some of us lucky dogs, the weekend starts Thursday evening. Sucks to be you!) To muddle through the minutes, why don’t you contribute to our Take It and Blog Friday subject and tell us how you met your significant other (and fell in/out of love–if you’re into that sort of thing).

Here’s how it works: Write your answer as a blog post and publish it on your blog. You can take whatever angle you like to get the question answered. Then come back to this page and share your name and link in the fancy little widget we’ve included below. Once you’re done with that, check out the other posts your fellow bloggers have posted and share a little love with them by linking to or commenting on their blog. (We’re all about community around here, you know.)

Can’t wait to read what you’ve shared!

Take it and Blog Friday: Statistics and Analytics

February 12, 2010 Comments Off

One of the main reasons I switched to WordPress was because of this sweet little graph they give you on your dashboard that tells you how many people have visited your site. This friendly little graph is also the reason I regularly contemplate leaving WordPress. Sure, I get a narcissistic thrill every time I see my graph move up, but at some point…

Statistics & Analytics | Take It and Blog Friday

February 12, 2010 Comments Off

Hooray for Friday! In celebration of the weekend, why don’t you take an hour of your work day and write what you know / want to share about statistics and analytics in relation to blogging? We know your little secret: You check your numbers daily. Twice. Once you’ve published your thoughts on your own blog, share the link using our fancy widget below. Then read what everyone else has to say (and maybe leave a comment on their blog).

Next Week’s Topic: (for those who don’t always want to blog about blogging) How did you meet your significant other?

Take it and Blog Fridays: Taking Time to Blog

February 5, 2010 Comments Off

This is my second post in the “Take it and Blog” assignment from the Springfield Bloggers(‘) Association. I’m not sure if I missed a memo, but the prompt for today is, yet again, “Taking Time to Blog.” Last time we talked, I basically confessed my own crazy and my discomfort with the self-promotion of a blog. Ironically, I also felt like a…

Taking Time to Blog | Take It and Blog Fridays

February 5, 2010 § 1 Comment

Two weeks ago, we announced a new feature on SGFblogs: Take It and Blog Fridays. (Yes, we skipped a Friday, but we have but one lone editor who last Friday was out in a snow storm recording video for her full-time job.) Anyway, today our topic is Taking Time to Blog. If you have any words, thoughts, or musings on the topic (and we’re sure you do), write a new post on your blog, publish it, and share the link using the widget below. Once your link has been shared, do some blog lovin’ and read what everyone else has written on the posts they shared.

Next week’s topic: Statistics and Metrics.

Taking Time to Blog

January 29, 2010 Comments Off

Just this week, I joined the Springfield Bloggers(‘) Association (SBA). It’s a network designed to encourage traffic and connect local writers in good ol’ southwest Missouri. To encourage solidarity, the admins of the SBA have decided that we should all give our own takes on a topic or idea every Friday.

This week’s topic is “Taking Time to…
