How to Contribute to SGFblogs.com
January 21, 2010 Comments Off
We told you yesterday that we’re looking to publish more original content on SGFblogs.com rather than syndicating snippets from other local blogs. We know that syndicating those feeds is an easy way for everyone to catch what’s happening in Springfield. But we feel a little lazy and a little cheap for doing it, so we’re mixing things up a bit and asking you guys to contribute!
- We use the word we a lot to make us sound big and important, but let’s be honest. Sarah (me) does most of the work, and she barely has time to write on her blog regularly.
- Guest posts are a tried and true way to gain exposure for your blog and build your credibility.
It’s a win/win situation. We get content. You get exposure. Who doesn’t love that?
Your next thought/question is: Sarah, this is an awesome opportunity! How do I get on this train?
We are looking for articles about blogging (e.g. how-to, lists, interviews, top 10) and news/press releases about local bloggers (e.g. my blog has a new podcast, my blog was mentioned in 417 Magazine, my blog is on TV).
Now we understand that none of us are Problogger, Copyblogger, or Dooce, but we all know something about blogging. We’ve all learned lessons during our blogging tenure. Maybe you’ve figured out the secret to blogging 17 times a day. Maybe you have tips about blogging anonymously. Maybe you’ve played with Typepad, Blogger, and WordPress and have an opinion about which one is best.
Whatever you’ve learned, please share it with us by writing your standard blog post (250-500 words should get you started) in your standard writing style, put it in a .rtf or .doc file and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. And include a little bio of yourself, too. If you’re worried about rejection, don’t be. For now, we’re pretty much taking anything we can get.
